Beach Lodge is a prestigious period house situated in Co. Wexford and rests on large, landscaped grounds. It is a detached property located in a stunning scenic location, within walking distance of Enniscorthy town centre. Just off the M11 motorway, Enniscorthy is the perfect base from which to explore blue flag beaches, forest and river walks and the many villages and towns nearby.

The house itself exudes considerable character and accommodation comprises an impressive entrance hallway, large living-room with bay window leading onto the sunroom where individuals can relax and watch their television programmes or enjoy listening to music. Additionally, the kitchen/dining room opens into a bright sunroom which looks out to the beautiful gardens. The sunroom is a cosy space presently used to unwind, practice self-care and engage in creative exploration in the form of organic art inspirations. There are three bedrooms designated for service users in the house, where independent living skills are maximised with support from staff. A fourth bedroom is allocated for sleepover staff. There are two bathrooms in the house; one upstairs and one downstairs. There is also a bedroom downstairs which serves as a chill out space for service users during the day. This space can be altered to practice an array of relaxation and mindfulness activities or provide an additional environment for service users to enjoy their television programmes or their favourite music. Furthermore, this room serves as a calming environment for waking staff who provide support and ensure safety during the night.

Beach Lodge boasts high trees and tumbling greenery which is approached by a tree lined avenue entering onto fabulous gardens where a myriad of traditional planting can be enjoyed. A walking trail exists around the garden, where vibrant shrubs trail and blossom throughout the seasons. Individuals can also enjoy scenic views of popular landmarks in the area. The garden is furnished with a trampoline and outdoor equipment.

Enniscorthy is situated by the River Slaney and has riverside walks beside it to the north and to the south. In addition, there are a host of amenities nearby that individual can experience such as swimming pool, shops, restaurants, gyms, seaside beaches and harbours, an adventure park, cinema, entertainment centre, pet farm, horse riding, forest walking, fishing and golf.

The staff team will endeavour to accommodate and encourage each service user’s hobbies and interests. Recommendations from service users will be recognised, particularly input of décor for their bedroom, which staff will endeavour to accommodate to increase a sense of belonging whilst ensuring the house is service user led. Each service user has their dietary needs met, with them partaking in compiling a weekly menu, in keeping with trying to create a friendly and homely environment. The service users are supported and encouraged to participate in preparing meals and baking. This provides the service user with independent living skills and a sense of achievement. Staff will ensure indoor and outdoor resources include various areas of provision that enable service users to develop skills. Plans for development include additional resources for our chill out zone, vegetable patch and a therapeutic art space.

Beach Lodge supports service users to develop the skills and capabilities they need to gain independence and participate in society. Beach Lodge enables opportunities for choice, inclusion and achievement within the service and the community. Fundamentally enhancing the service users’ quality of life is a value that Beach Lodge champions and a lot of emphasis is directed at implementing supports and services all in line with national standards and associated regulations.

A shared approach is adopted when working with an individual service user. Families, carers, HIQA, clinical input and other multi-disciplinary teams are encouraged to participate in the service user’s placement. The best interests of the service user are paramount when working collaboratively with these partners.

Work carried out will be modelled in consultation with the service user and their person-centred plan, encompassing their individual communication methods, as per the needs of each individual service user. If some element of work required can be better accessed externally from other professionals, TerraGlen will source same.

“Beach Lodge offers a residential service for up to three young people aged 6 to 18 years old. At Beach Lodge, we provide individuals with a safe, supportive, consistent and stable environment in which they can positively engage with their Person-Centred Plan, governed by our Rose Model of Care which was inspired by Carl Roger’s Person-Centred Therapy.

Beach Lodge endeavours to create a homely and cosy atmosphere and upon admission to Beach Lodge, in collaboration with the service user, each service user is assigned a key worker. The role of the key worker is to support and advocate for the service user, whilst also building and maintaining a positive working relationship. This process enables service users to achieve self-actualisation, creating the opportunity for service users to reach their full potential.”
